
David “Rook” Goldflies (bass) has spent most of his life in Florida. Prior to his joining the Allman Brothers Band, his talents were recruited to record the hit single “Black Betty” with the group Starstruck that later became Ram Jam.
In 1978 he landed a gig with Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts and the Great Southern Band. In mid-1979 the Allman Brothers Band reformed after a jam in Central Park in NYC with the Great Southern Band and David was asked to be their bass player.
He played on three Allman Brothers albums – Enlightened Rogues, Reach for the Sky, and Brothers of the Road. In addition to performing with the Allman Brothers, David performed with BHLT (Dickey Betts, Jimmy Hall of Wet Willie, Chuck Level, and Butch Trucks). He is an author and composer.
